URGENT ALERT FROM CUS!

DO NOT INSTALL MICROSOFT’S LATEST WINDOWS 10 FALL CREATORS UPDATE AT THIS TIME. .

Microsoft released their Fall Creators Update this week and they will be rolling it out to most Windows 10 systems over the next few weeks and months. We learned about a change in this update that can cause conflicts with CUS, along with some other non-Microsoft applications. This can result in loss of data integrity in both single user and network CUS installations.

Until we can determine how to resolve this, it’s important that all CUS users avoid this latest Windows 10 update. WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU CONSULT WITH LOCAL TECHNICAL PROFESSIONALS TO DEAL WITH THIS IF YOU POSSIBLY CAN.

For those who have some technical knowledge, you can usually control the settings in Windows 10 Pro to delay the installation of Microsoft’s updates:

Go to Start>Settings>Update & Security. Click Advanced Options on the right. Choose Current Branch for Business and defer feature updates for 365 days.

Unfortunately, Windows 10 Home does not allow for this level of control. To our knowledge, the only option available is to set your computer’s internet connection to “metered”, as if you pay for data. This will probably prevent Microsoft from pushing the update to you without your permission.

We hope to have more information soon but in the meantime, don’t install this update. It’s unlikely that the update has already been installed on your computer because Microsoft is distributing it gradually, but please take the necessary steps to prevent it.

Because of this recent development, we have to recommend that you avoid Windows 10 Home until further notice.

Contacting Technical Support

Please send emails to techsupport@cus.com instead of an individual email address. Other CUS consultants will see the question and be able to help you if the person you tried to reach is not available. If you don’t get an answer to your emailed question in a day or two, follow up with a call to 954.680.6545. Your email might have been trapped by a spam filter and blocked.

Of course, if you have an emergency, don’t rely on email at all. Call us right away at 954.680.6545 (all hours). If you reach our automated recording, choose extension 501 for emergency support. You’ll be transferred right away to the consultant on call.
